The Rising Tide, Palm Beach Area Mensa’s Gifted Youth Program, is supported by a dedicated community of volunteers working locally and, where appropriate, in collaboration across Mensa Region 10. Whether you’re a parent, a Mensan, or a gifted youth eager to make a difference, your time and talents help create meaningful, engaging experiences for our Gifted Youth community.
Volunteer involvement can take many forms—from supporting local events and activities to contributing ideas, projects, or virtual opportunities that connect youth beyond their immediate area. However you choose to participate, your involvement helps strengthen and sustain Gifted Youth programs at both the local and regional level.
For Gifted Youth
Gifted Youth Representatives
Palm Beach Area Mensa welcomes Gifted Youth Representatives who are interested in leadership, collaboration, and community involvement. Youth Representatives may support local Gifted Youth initiatives within Palm Beach Area Mensa and, where appropriate, participate in regional or virtual projects that connect youth across Mensa Region 10.
This is a non-voting, appointed role in which Gifted Youth work closely with the Gifted Youth Coordinator to bring ideas to life. Projects may be local, regional, or virtual in nature and can include service activities, youth or family-friendly events, creative initiatives, or collaborative programming.
What You’ll Do:

Support local Palm Beach Area Mensa Gifted Youth programs through projects and events

Participate in regional or virtual initiatives that connect Gifted Youth beyond your local group

Help plan service projects and youth or family activities

Build leadership skills while forming meaningful friendships with peers
Gifted Youth Representatives in Mensa groups across the country have led both local and regional projects, including virtual chess clubs, book discussions, career-focused webinars, and community service initiatives. These experiences allow youth to connect with peers who share similar interests and passions - often making future participation more comfortable and rewarding.

For Adults
Adults play an essential role in supporting Gifted Youth programs at both the local and regional level. Volunteers may assist regularly or occasionally, depending on interest and availability, without taking on administrative responsibilities.
Adult Volunteers
Adult Volunteers help plan and support events, activities, and experiences that engage Gifted Youth and their families. Volunteers do not need to be Mensa members; however, all adult volunteers must complete a background check approved by American Mensa.
Parent Volunteers
Mensa allows both Mensan and non-Mensan parents to serve as Parent Volunteers to help local groups better support their Gifted Youth members. Parent Volunteers assist elected and appointed officers by helping organize activities and events. This is not an officer position and carries no formal title.
