From stinky blooms to seed-slinging fruits and sky-high trees, Sophia takes us on a wild tour of some of nature’s coolest plants.
Hi and welcome back to Sophia's Story World. Today I'll give you a course on some really cool plants.
First I will talk about the Titan Arum. This plant stinks. No, it does smell bad. Its big yellow spike causes the odor. A Titan Arum can also have two or even three spikes at the same time! Titan Arums also make fruit, but only if their spike or spikes collapse.
Next up is the Squirting Cucumber. This plant's fruits squirt their seeds out when they drop from their plant. The seeds can be shot up to 20 feet, or 6 meters, away from their host plant! Also, a Squirting Cucumber's fruit is poisonous, so don't try to eat their fruit!
Third here is the Kapok Tree. These trees are totally HUGE. They can grow up to 230 feet (70 meters) high! Kapok Trees are also home to many animals.
