Welcome back to Sophia’s Story World! This month, Sophia dives into three surprisingly cool insects - with fun facts, weird defenses, and a few delightfully gross surprises.
Hi, everyone! You've now come back to Sophia's Story World to learn about... well, that's obvious, 3 cool insects. Read on to learn more!
First up is the stinkbug. This insect definitely lives up to its name! When it's scared, it lets loose some stinky goop that could stink up a room for hours. If the goop touches your skin, it might take a few scrubs to get rid of the stink.
Next up is the long locust. Long locusts are known for their unusually long back legs, which allow them to jump long distances. And when it is scared, a long locust will shoot some brown goop at the attacker. I've also heard that they're bigger than your average locust. Males are 4-5 centimeters long and females are 7-8 centimeters long.
Last up is the Ladybug. They might not sound interesting, but just wait until you hear my facts! First, ladybugs can be a bit gross. If they get scared by a predator, a ladybug will shoot a stinky liquid from... its knees. Next, there are many types of ladybugs. A few are the two-spotted ladybug, the TWENTY-two spotted ladybug, the yellow-shouldered ladybug (which is black and yellow, by the way), the seven-spotted ladybug, and the transverse ladybug. Last, a ladybug isn't a bug! Ladybugs are beetles.
Well, it looks like my article's come to an end. Happy reading and writing! Now this is Sophia, your Deckside Storyteller, signing out. Goodbye!
