Ever heard of Mallorca? This Spanish island is Europe's best-kept secret — think fairy-tale castle hotels, winding mountain roads, hidden beaches, and charming villages frozen in time. Rising Tide contributor Elizabeth visited over spring break and brought back the whole story. From the cobblestone streets of Valldemossa to a secluded beach with a legendary snake-like road to get there — trust us, you'll want to read this one.
I was able to visit during Spring break with my family. Mallorca is a Balearic Island off the coast of Spain. It is an hour flight from Madrid, Spain, which is the capital of Spain. Did you know that Mallorca, Spain is very popular with European tourists such as Germans and Brits? It is considered the equivalent of the Hawaii in Europe.
I want to tell you about my trip. When we arrived, we checked in to our hotel that looked like a medieval castle straight out of a fairy tale. We drove about 10 minutes to a small village town called Bunyola and ate at a very yummy Italian restaurant. After we finished our meals, we drove to our hotel and went to sleep.
The next day, we traveled to a famous village town called Valldemossa. It was my favorite village town that we visited in the trip. We were able to walk around, eat at a bakery, hike and shop. We visited different small village towns everyday on our trip. I want to tell you about a highlight of my trip!
The highlight that stood out the most is when we went to a small secluded beach with majestic rocks, It was over an hour away from our hotel. The beach is famous for having an infamous snake-like winding road that travels through mountains. The beach was too cold to get in, but there was a very shallow body of water where we were able to splash around in. Then it was time to go!
