From rainbow-colored buntings to blue-beaked ducks and pigeons with shimmering necks—Sophia takes us on a feathered adventure in this month’s Story World!
Hello! Welcome back and again to Sophia's Story World. Today we'll talk about, like the heading says, some cool birds.
First up is the Painted Bunting. Painted Buntings eat seeds, spiders and insects. Their sound is a loud, rich chip sound. Painted Bunting's feathers are the following colors: red, blue, yellow and green.
Next up is the Ruddy duck. Ruddy ducks are very good divers. They usually nest in cattails or grass. Ruddy ducks are NOT regular. Their beaks are blue! Ruddy ducks eat zooplankton and aquatic insects. Zooplankton are teeny-tiny animals that live in water, in case you didn't know.
Last up here is the Rock pigeon. In the sunlight, a Rock pigeon's neck looks green and purple. That is how they got their name. Rock pigeons live in cities all over the world, and in some places like Venice, Italy, it is illegal to feed them!
Well, there's no more for now, my readers. I'll see you in my next article and thanks for reading! Oh, and happy reading and writing! Bye!
