We love featuring young writers in The Rising Tide — and at just 5 years old, Riaan K. is our youngest contributor yet. He recently visited Seattle's iconic Space Needle and came back with a full report. Spoiler: it was scary. But he was not scared. Read his full dispatch from 605 feet up.
I visited Seattle with my parents for my Spring break. There, I went to the Space Needle.
It is 605 feet tall, and we had to take the elevator to reach the top. The elevator takes 45 seconds from the bottom to the top.
Once we reached the top, we could see the whole of Seattle and the bay. It was scary, but I was not scared. There was a viewing deck, and we spent some time on the deck, looking at the city from the top. After spending some time on the deck, we came down the stairs to the next floor, which was the revolving glass floor. It was also very scary, but I was not scared. I stood on the glass floor. We saw Seattle from all sides of the Space Needle. I was higher than all the other skyscrapers around, and we took a lot of photos. It was fun, and I want to go there again.
